Hi everyone, this month we are focusing on the Masking Technique. Make sure you check out what the rest of the design team have come up with this month, I know that will have some fabulous ideas for you.
Well anyone that knows me will know that Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year so naturally, I could not resist making one more Christmas card lol. The stamp set I have used is called Snow Place and it is from the Annual (main) Catalogue.
Measurements for card
Thick White Card
– 13.8cm x 21cm – card base (scored in half at 10.5cm)
– 12.8cm x 9.5cm – card front
– scrap for stamping bow
Basic Black Card
– 13.1cm x 9.8cm – mat for card front
Basic Instructions when making this card
1. Create small window square on card front using either Post-it-notes or Post-it Label Roll, I have used the roll. If unsure how large to make the window you can place the un-inked image on top of the card prior to masking (as below).
2. Stamp the snowman image using black archival ink inside the window and also on the sticky roll or post-it-note (as above).
3. Cut out the snowman image from the sticky roll and place on top of the stamped image (as below).
4. Sponge using small circular motions over the top of the masked areas. Helpful tip, I always tap the excess ink (off the sponge) on scrap paper first, doing this makes you are less likely to get big blotches of ink on your card (as above)
5. Stamp the snowflakes on top of the sponged area (as below).
6. Remove the Post-it label roll or Post-it-notes to reveal sponged area (as above).
7. Stamp the arms on the snowman and the saying using basic black archival ink. Stamp the bow tie on scrap card, cut out and adhere to snowman. Finish card by colouring the nose, painting the snowman using the clear wink of stella brush (adds a slight sparkle) and add a few rhinestones to the centre of the snowflakes.
