Engagement Blog Hop #DT14

Hi everyone, it’s time for another Dream Theme Blog Hop and this month’s theme is Engagement.
DT-DreamTheme-DT2Life has been crazy busy around our house lately so I left making the card for the blog hop until the last minute.  Well, that was a mistake lol, I must admit it was a bit of a challenge because when I went thru my stash of stamp sets I realised I had nothing to go with the engagement theme at all lol.  Anyway, I decided to run with using hearts.  After all, we are talking about making a card for two people in love, this is what I came up with.

I cut the hearts from white card and slowly added colour using a sponge.  I dry embossed one of the hearts using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder and then re-sponged over the top to make the raised dots stand out.  They still looked a little too boring so I clear embossed over both the hearts and then while the plain heart (not embossed one) was still hot I sprinkled a little silver embossing powder over portions of it and reheated to give the heart a slightly tarnished look.

Don’t you just love the funky heart shape shapes?  Are you wondering where I got them from lol?  If so I just used the centre portion of the heart thinlits die (as below), so don’t throw out your scraps they can come in handy.
